Why use a magnetic plug?
Magnetic drain plugs attract and hold ferrous metal particles that 
circulate through your lubrication or hydraulic system.

The particles may be a result of the following conditions:

Usually it is a combination of factors that account for the presence of these particles
 that are abrasive and will cause excessive wear unless they are removed

Magnetic plugs have been used since the 1930's as an inexpensive yet effective solution for
removing damaging ferrous particles. They are also good wear indicators as an increase of
material collected on your magnetic plug may be an early indication of a problem

Magnetic plugs are even more important for applications where no oil pump or filter is used.
